HOLIDAY DECOR INSPIRATION
Seeing as it’s our first holiday in our new home, I’ve been busy scouring the internet for inspiration on how to decorate. I’ve always been attracted to timeless, elegant and traditional Christmas decorations like, garlands on railings, wreaths on front doors and over exterior windows, candles everywhere…etc. But I also love the look of crafts made with neutral colours to cozy up the home. I’m sharing the images that have been inspiring me as we start planning our holiday decorations along with how I am approaching the process below. If you have any questions be sure to leave a comment below.
Start with a colour palette
I want our holiday decor to work seamlessly with the colour palette we already have running throughout the house. I also pulled common colours I found myself attracted to in images I found on Pinterest. You can use your colour palette as a guide when picking out Christmas Decorations to ensure that everything works together. One of my favourite ways to put this to use is when picking wrapping paper. I stick to brown and white paper as I mentioned below but you can pull your bow/ribbon colours from the shades below so that each package works together but has it’s own unique look.

The CHRISTMAS WREATH
I have always been drawn to this stunning wreath design, I love it simplicity and the delicate colours used throughout its design. I am a sucker for olive branches but I decided to create a similar look by harvesting fallen evergreen branches from around my neighbourhood instead, not only is it cost effective, it’s really pretty. I am still on the hunt for the right ribbon, but I managed to find the perfect bells on etsy. They carry olive branches at West Coast Gardens in South Surrey if you’re looking for some.

THE MANTLE
I just adore this mantle piece, it’s sophisticated and crafty at the same time incorporating so many neutral tones all at once. The element of gold comes in through the bells, the green of the garland carries the green of the Christmas tree through the room and the white Pom Pom garland is so fun and crafty. I also absolutely love knit stockings. We bought ours from Anthropologie years back and I am still in love with them.

The CHRISTMAS TREE
I am modelling our Christmas Tree off of this stunning one from the McGee and Co’s. holiday look-book. I love the wood bead garland strung around the tree which will really pull in the decor from around our home. I think it’s going to really fit into our living room. I love the colour palette of the decorations and how they’ve been placed. The tree doesn’t feel overly decorated which I love. I love this aritifical Christmas Tree from McGee and Co. It unfortunately sold out before we could get our hands on one so we’ll either get a different kind of tree or opt for a real one this year.

Gift wrapping
I have always loved simple gift wrapping design. I love using white or brown paper to wrap the parcels and then use either yarn or ribbon bowls around them. This year I want to incorporate little pieces of greenery and ornaments like the picture above.

garland
How gorgeous is this garland. I love how it’s been draped so relaxed over the railing. I also love the idea of using silk bows at the end. I would love to use brown, taupe or steel grey coloured ribbon.
No.6
lanterns
I love how this lantern has been dressed up. I plan on getting some lanterns for our patio at some point and when we do have them, I love the idea of tying a bow and some greenery around them.
No.7
front entrance
In addition to our wreath I love the idea of layering in some trees with little lights and candle lanterns in a zinc colour.

crafty details
I just love these pom pom’s. I managed to find some by canvas home at Canadian Tire and I plan on hanging them from our mantle and above our cabinet in the living room.
