SHOP OUR NURSERY
I’m so excited to finally be sharing a little sneak peak at our son’s nursery with you as it comes together. I am the most impatient person so of course I shared some sneak peaks with all of you on instagram before it’s even complete.
So many of you have been asking for links so I’ve put this little blog together earlier than I was planning to so I could share the items we currently have shown for you. I’ll be updating this blog as our items come in and as we complete this project.
What we have left to do
We are still waiting on our nursing chair to arrive and I’m still debating on where we want our artwork and book shelves to be…etc. It’ll be easier to figure this out now that we have the room partially assembled. I also have another wood working project or two in store for Nick (he’s actually excited, I promise lol).
Designing our nursery
I started designing our nursery before I even knew we were pregnant. Big surprise, right? lol. I really wanted it to blend in with the rest of our home. I achieved this by using a similar colour palette and materials to what we’ve used throughout the rest of our home like white washed stumps, creamy neutral colours and mixing antique/worn in looking furniture with newer looking pieces.
It was also really important to me that the room be gender neutral. Even though we knew the gender of our baby when designing the nursery, I wanted to use the space for both of our children and if we have a girl next, I wanted something that would suit her as well. We went a little more masculine on the bedding, so if our second is a girl we may swap that out, but for the most part this room should transition nicely if we need it to.
I originally had my eyes on another crib which was backordered until June (a month after our son is due) and knowing how impatient I am, I knew I couldn’t wait that long, especially when I was in my nesting stage. We ended up taking a risk and ordering my second favourite crib in a grey colour rather than the white that I would normally go for. I actually ordered the crib when I was recovering from my kidney stone surgery and the delivery timelines were so long, I didn’t want to wait to receive a wood sample so we took a risk and miraculously it turned out. Phew!
