ENGAGEMENT LUNCH
08.18.18
After nearly eight months of being engaged we finally managed to celebrate our engagement with our families and our bridal party.
We wanted to celebrate our engagement by giving our families and bridal party a chance to get together and get to know each other before we kick off all of the wedding events that will be happening over the next year.
Even though Nick and I have been together for nearly six years our families had never really met. We felt so lucky that our families got along so well! We truly had the perfect day.
My day was so full. I started off by going to the gym at 6:30 am only to realize it didn't open until 7 am, followed by picking up our lemon engagement cake from butter baked goods with my dad at 8 am (the second it opened). I ordered the cake special to have no piping, sprinkles or writing so that I could decorate the cake with fresh flowers. We also ordered a lemon cake as it's what we are thinking of having for the wedding and we wanted to try it out on some of our guests. It was a huge success, even my brother loved it and he's not a huge lemon fan. The next step was to pick up some fresh flowers to add to the top of the cake.
One of my favourite parts of the day was when my dad and I had to kill time while we waited for the closest florist to open it's doors at 9:00 am. We wandered the streets of 41st avenue until the florist opened. We picked out some gorgeous flowers and managed to get back to the car just before we got a parking ticket. Phewf!
Once we got back home it was a rush to clean the house, make the bed, get cleaned up, do my make up while watching tutorials on how to add flowers to a cake, decorate the cake, take pictures of the cake and get out the door by 12 pm. It felt like I had accomplished an entire day's work by 11 am.
